Lesvos

Lesvos holidays

Some destinations burst on your radar, others bide their time – and unassuming Lesvos has done just that. It may be the third largest island in Greece but it’s relatively untouched, making it the perfect place to pitch up, plop down and enjoy a little peace and quiet. The magical landscape here dances between densely-forested mountains, unspoilt beaches and hills blanketed in olive plantations, making for days of adventure.

The island of ouzo

Love a local tipple? You’re in the right place here, as Lesvos’ farmers create around half of the world’s ouzo supply. But that’s not all – groves are heavy with plump olives and fishing boats trundle in and out of the harbours everyday with fresh catches. Sample all these goodies and more at the traditional tavernas peppered around the island.

Beach bliss

Nestled in the eastern Aegean, Lesvos is a sun-kissed island designed for relaxation. Unwind on the pebbly shore of Eftalou Beach – you won’t be able to take your eyes off the sapphire sea sparkling ahead of you. Anaxos Beach and Petra Beach are equally dazzling.

Magical Molivos

Terracotta-topped Molivos, a centuries-old town with roots in the Ottoman era, is ready for its close-up. Wander along the cobbled lanes, lined with stone houses and leafy trees, before venturing towards the castle-capped harbour. Speaking of the castle, this 14th-century wonder presides over Molivos and has amazing views out to Turkey from its ramparts.

Petra

This teeny village, strung along the north coast of Lesvos, offers a blissful beach break to all that come here.

Molivos

Surrounded by the glittering Aegean Sea, this gorgeous Greek town is a stunner.

Skala Kallonis

Tucked away on the Bay of Kalloni is a little village named Skala Kallonis.

Anaxos

This pretty resort on the northern coast of Lesvos may have a calm atmosphere but you’ll still find a good selection of tavernas and bars to enjoy.

Skala Eressos

This small fishing village on the south-west coast of the island is the ultimate choice for a chilled-out Greek getaway.

Beaches

Lesvos’ beaches are total knockouts. If you’re looking for a pebbly patch, Eftalou is the ideal spot to sit back and watch the waves tumble in. It’s dramatic in looks and houses the Mineral Baths of Eftalou too. Meanwhile, the golden sands of Anaxos and Petra twinkle away.
