Spain has introduced a new law aimed at enhancing national security. This means you’ll now need to provide a bit more personal information than you previously have when checking into your hotel or private rental.
But don’t worry – this new rule won’t affect the immigration process or slow down anything at the airport.
When you check in to your hotel, you’ll just be asked for some basic details like your name, gender, nationality, passport number, date of birth, mobile number, home address and email address. This applies to anyone aged 14 and over.
Hotels have always asked for some of this information, but since 2 December 2024, they’ve collected some additional pieces too.
If you’re renting a car in Spain, some of your details will be shared with the Spanish authorities as part of these new rules. It’s nothing to worry about – it’s just part of the updated system.
Absolutely not! For most customers, it’s as simple as filling in a form when you check in at your hotel. There’s no suggestion from the Spanish government that they’re asking for any more personal information, including bank account details.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to provide your personal details ahead of time. Don’t worry though, our hotel partners will make the process as smooth and quick as possible when you check in.
