What exactly do we mean by 'sustainable'?

A hotel that’s part of this collection has been assessed by an independent organisation that’s on ABTA’s (The Travel Association) list of accommodation sustainability certification bodies*. Their standards cover several things these hotels do, such as management, impact on local communities, supporting local heritage and actions to reduce environmental effects.
