A unique spot

Cadiz is an ancient port city, located in south-west Spain. What stands out about the area though, is that it’s almost entirely surrounded by water! Two roads and a thin strip of land connect it to the mainland, and there are more than 100 watchtowers here! These came in handy when it was the home of the Spanish Navy back in the 16th century.

Heaps of history

Cadiz is said to be the oldest city in western Europe, so you can just imagine the time-worn sights that are dotted around its Old Town. Head up Torre Tavira, an 18th-century watchtower, for panoramic skyline views, or make a beeline for the castles of San Sebastian and Santa Catalina. The neighbourhoods of La Vina and El Popular are not to be missed either!

Time to unwind

After all that excitement, you’ll need to squeeze in a day or two for pure relaxation. And Cadiz’s beaches are the perfect places for it. La Caleta and Playa Victoria are two of the most popular, thanks to their golden sands and clear water. Hang around for sunset and you’ll be even more impressed!
