Thrills at PortAventura Theme Park

For a fun family adventure, look no further than the incredible PortAventura Theme Park. It has six themed areas – from the candy-coloured world of Sesame Street to China – and a whopping 40 rides to try. Two of the best rides include Europe's tallest rollercoaster, Shambhala, and Furius Baco – a white-knuckle accelerator ride.

Dive into Caribe Aquatic Park

This totally tropical waterpark brings a taste of the Caribbean to Spain. Take the plunge on Europe's highest freefall slide, tackle the six-lane rapid race or whoosh through the tunnels of the Barracudas. Alternatively, hit Bahama Beach and kick back on a lounger to the sound of the rippling waves and reggae rhythms wafting through the air.

Feel the speed at Ferrari Land

Ferrari Land is dedicated to speed. It has the highest and fastest vertical accelerator in Europe, where you’ll experience the same G-force as F1 drivers! The park also has a bunch of racing car simulators so you can channel superstar Sebastian Vettel as you get behind the wheel. Hold on tight for the ride of your life!

Best for big kids

If you’re after adrenaline-fuelled adventures, PortAventura Theme Park’s the place. Once you’ve braved Shambhala’s gravity-defying heights, brace yourself to break the speed limit as you rocket up to 85mph in just three seconds on Furius Baco. Ready for more? Over in Ferrari Land, Europe’s tallest and fastest vertical accelerator goes from nought to 110mph in five turbocharged seconds as the rollercoaster reaches a 112m peak. There are two piston-inspired bounce-back towers that freefall 55m too.

Best for little kids

There’s a lot the little ones will enjoy at PortAventura World. They can go for a spin on the Giant Tea Cups, ride Canoes through Polynesia or fire water cannons on the Angkor boat ride. Best of all, you can all enter the world of Sesame Street and meet Elmo and the gang. And don’t miss the mazes, log flumes and runaway trains! When you’re getting wet ‘n’ wild at Caribe Aquatic, there’s an exciting pirate ship filled with even more Sesame Street favourites, along with a bunch of colourful splash parks.

With a whopping 40 daily acrobatic, dancing and music shows included as part of your entry to PortAventura Theme Park, you can look forward to an incredible on-site entertainment programme. Join a tropical rainforest dance in Polynesia, uncover a tale of treasure hunting in Mexico and enjoy all the gun-slinging action of a cowboy showdown! Plus, throughout July and August, the park stays open until the early hours when a carnival spirit takes over and the skies are lit up with stunning firework displays.

The world on your plate

You’ll never go hungry here. When you’re taking time out from the rides, Vinosfera is a chic spot to enjoy some tapas and wine. There’s also a grand Chinese buffet and Wild West-style steak in a barn – yee-haw! Plus, there are heaps of snack bars when you need to grab and go. If you fancy refuelling at Ferrari Land, take a seat at the authentic trattoria, inspired by the car brand’s Italian roots. And the laid-back Reggae Café is the one to check out at when you’re splashing around at Caribe.

Halloween: September – November

The ghosts and ghouls at PortAventura World go all out to celebrate this hair-raising holiday. Be on the lookout for creepy characters lurking around corners and keep your eyes peeled for the petrifying parade!
