Salinas do Grelha

Ever wondered where salt comes from? Visit the Salinas do Grelha salt pans and you can see for yourself. Rows of ‘trays’ are filled with sea water, where a film of flor de sal crystals develop on the surface. The salt’s then skimmed, sun-dried and all packed up. Harvesting usually takes place between May and September.
