Cycling in Majorca

Combined with vibrant coastal resorts and a distinctly cosmopolitan capital, you’ll find variety at your fingertips. Enjoy the mix of exciting cycling routes and the laid-back holiday atmosphere.
Challenging climbs
Nestled close to the thigh-burning climbs of the Tramuntana Mountains, the northern coast is a real draw for pro cycling teams. Stay at Alcudia, Puerto Pollensa or Playa De Muro and you’ll be within easy reach of routes that explore the island’s interior.
Out of the saddle
After a great day’s cycling, there’s still plenty to do. You could enjoy the tantalising tapas bars in the city of Palma before snapping some photos of its dominating La Seu Cathedral. Later, relax by the waterfront at Puerto Pollensa or receive a warm welcome in Alcudia’s expat pubs.
Speedy flats
The vibrant south of Majorca has a range of flat routes for speed training and it’s still just a short ride to the west coast’s mountains. Three routes close to Palma Nova have gentler gradients, making them ideal for all ages and abilities.

The Route: Cycle from north to south across nine different villages. On the way, you’ll pass a lighthouse, parish church and painter’s museum. Expect to spot (and smell) fragrant citrus groves, too! This is a route that you could take quite gently, so older children may be up for it.

The Route: After a hilly start, the smooth and fairly recently laid road flattens out for breathtaking views of the sea and steep cliffs along the peninsula. Whether you like a slow cycle or to get going pretty competitively, you can tackle this one and soak up the rewarding scenery

The Route: Conquer the Coll dels Reis at 725m altitude to begin this route. It has an astonishing 26 hairpin turns and an average gradient of 7%. You’ll feel fantastic once you’ve taken on this fierce route, and the unfolding views of the Tramuntana Mountains will be nothing short of breathtaking.
