There are lots of well-signposted paths and routes throughout the town that will lead you to the top attractions. Start in the main square then walk the perimeter of the town, taking in the baroque-style parish church and flower-filled gardens along the way. You could spend hours getting lost in the quaint side streets too!
If nightlife’s your bag, then why not spend an evening in the capital, which is only a 25-minute drive away? Valletta’s streets are teeming with pavement café-bars and charming restaurants, so you can grab a bite to eat then hit up a rooftop cocktail bar for sunset views over the skyline. If you’re more into cosy vibes, then try out the wine bars and pubs instead.
Malta and Gozo
Duke Shopping Mall in the heart of Gozo is a one-stop shop. You’ll find everything from branded clothing to homewares and a wellbeing centre. The Food Store has a delicatessen with all you’ll need to pack a delicious picnic if you’re planning a day out or you can eat in at the cafeteria.
Malta and Gozo
Dwejra Tower was built in 1652 to defend the coast and was armed with cannons and guns. It was restored in 1999. It is open when the flag is flying and free to enter. The climb up to the tower is fairly steep, but the amazing views from the roof are worth it. There is a short video and a guide to answer questions.
Malta and Gozo
The walk up to the Gordan Lighthouse, 161 metres above sea level, is quite steep but the 360 degree views of Gozo are worth it. Built in 1851 it originally had 21 oil lamps and the beam was visible from anywhere on the island and up to 38 miles away. It continues to function today but is now automatic.
