Locals claim that the Georgioupolis coast takes the title of longest beach in Crete – over 9km of golden grains and dazzling Aegean waters does sound like a winner to us too. There’s plenty of space to lay down your towel and stretch out!
Snuggled by rugged mountains, meandering rivers and serene coastline, Georgioupolis isn’t short on breathtaking views to rest your eyes on. Add authentic accents of history and culture, and you’ve got plenty of sights to enjoy on an evening stroll.
Georgioupolis has all the modern ingredients for a memorable getaway. Cute cafés, superb souvenir shops, and bars to enjoy a lip-smacking cocktail in the evening. Throw in some water sports or a spa retreat into the mix, and here’s your patch of paradise.

One of the oldest olive trees in the world – and a protected natural monument – is about 15 minutes from Kolymbari. It’s part of a mill and old villa, so there’s more to see than you’d think. The age of the tree hasn’t been determined, but the walls and stones of the mill date back to 1850.

Rides and slides for the whole family? Tick! Aqua Creta Limnoupolis Waterpark has everything you could want in an aquatic day out – a massive central pool, snack bars, lazy rivers, freefall rides, and plenty of water slides. If you’re feeling less adventurous, there are football fields and children’s playgrounds.

Brilliant Balos Beach looks like it was plucked straight from a postcard. We’re talking ice-white sand, turquoise sea and rugged headland combining to form a dreamy trio of sights. It’s set on the Gramvousa Peninsula and best reached by boat or car.
