Skopelos Town is the beating heart of the island where winding alleyways of welcoming tavernas meet whitewashed houses blanketed with blooming bougainvillea. Sit down to a Greek feast among the locals before sipping wine and enjoying live music in the low-key bars.
We all know that the beaches in Greece are northing short of spectacular but over on Skopelos, they’re dreamier than you could ever imagine. More than a handful ring the coastline, providing the perfect spots to your day’s sunbathing. Sand or pebble, buzzing or quiet – you’re bound to find a beach to suit you.
Do the stunning beaches and pretty streets of Skopelos look familiar? That’s because the island was used as the setting for Mamma Mia!. You can walk in the sandy footsteps of stars on Kastani Beach then recreate the wedding scene at the clifftop Church of Agios Ioannis Kastri. Lights, camera, action!
Skopelos
Pack a picnic and pull on your walking shoes – it's time for an adventure around Cape Amarandos. Park at the end of a dirt road and wander along the beautiful cape to find a secluded lunch spot. There are plenty of rocky beaches lapped by dazzlingly-blue waters for a swim stop too!
Skopelos
Mamma Mia! unearthed many of Skopelos' hidden gems and this is one of them. Nestled atop a cliff, the teeny Church of Agios Ioannis Kastri is a sight to behold and inside the beautiful icons are enchanting to say the least. To reach it, you'll have to scale more than 200 steps up a scenic hillside with the Aegean twinkling on either side. The view from the stop of the rugged coastline is spectacular!
Skopelos
Take a trip back in time at this Byzantine beauty, built all the way back in the early 18th century. It's perched on the slopes of Mount Palouki, so the setting is pretty spectacular. Soak up the view down to Skopelos Town and out to the glittering Aegean, before ducking inside to admire the extravagant interior.
