Trapezaki is the perfect place to tuck into some traditional Grecian cuisine. There isn’t a huge number of restaurants, but there’ll be plenty of chances to try chunky Greek salads, hearty stews and succulent grilled meats with freshly baked bread. Don’t forget to try a glass of Kefalonian wine!
With bright turquoise waters, clear blue sky and a lush green backdrop, you should get set to be amazed by the palette of Trapezaki. The scenery here really is beautiful, so bypass the postcards and take some snaps of your own! Look out for the extraordinary sunsets too.
Trapezaki, Kefalonia
This long sweep of natural beach has something for everyone. At one end is a good selection of sun loungers and a snack bar, so you’re all set for the long haul. And at the other, there’s just a long stretch of sand if you fancy some peace. The shallow waters here make it great for kids too.
Kefalonia
This pretty harbour village surrounded by pebbly beaches has an atmosphere of traditional Greek hospitality. It’s a popular stop off for sailing boats and there are some great waterside cafes and tavernas. You have to try the wood-fired bread from the local bakery. It is also home to a well-regarded diving school.
Kefalonia
The sprawling Venetian fortress in Assos was built in 16th century to protect the townspeople from pirates and Turks. You can take a walk up from the village through along a steep and winding track through olive trees to explore the fascinating ruins. Remember to take some water as there’s no café at the top.
