The quaint little fishing village of Agia Pelagia is big on wowing scenery. Across this charming and historic resort, there are various beaches to sprawl out on. Pick from sandy stretches and rocky patches, and then bed in for a day of full-on relaxation, just the way you like it.
The beaches aren’t the only thing that’s bronze around here – check out the old Minoan Palace of Knossos and prepare to discover some of Crete’s most epic history. But if you want to keep things simple, the endless bays and coves are cool spots for chilling out in picturesque surroundings.

It may be a small coastal town, but the beach in Agia Pelagia is well worth a visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the busier beaches. Situated 20 kilometres east of Heraklion, the picture-perfect main beach offers sunbeds, parasols, and a lively street lined with cafés, bars and restaurants.

Watch the sun set over a cocktail or two in one of Agia Pelagia’s assortment of fantastic bars and restaurants. Ask the friendly bar tenders to whip you up a delicious cocktail treat, or a cheeky shot of the local raki. Drinks are very reasonably priced and the evening atmosphere in town is second to none.

The beautiful white sands and clear waters of Ligaria Beach lie just one kilometre from Agia Pelagia. It’s nestled in an almost closed off bay, surrounded by striking mountains and rocky hillsides. It’s totally child-friendly and is a popular spot for the locals at the weekend – always a good sign!
