Gran Castillo Tagoro

Lovely hotel with beautiful food and great staff! Went with friends that go every year and we honestly couldn’t fault it! Definitely going again this year!

We stayed at the Gran Castillio Tagoro hotel for 5 nights during May half term. The Hotel was amazing it was a like a castle a really beautiful building. The rooms were huge and had a dressing room so all the clothes could be kept in one place meaning the room was tidy throughout our stay. the hotel was very clean and well looked after and really friendly staff. I read some bad reviews which nearly put us off, I'm glad we ignored them. There was lots to do at the hotel and the kids 10 and 13 were happy and occupied throughout our stay. I kept meaning to send my son to the kids club but he was so happy with the pools and beach we didn't get a chance. The gym was great the photos didn't do it justice, really large and lots of free weights and machines. The only slight let down was the food. I thought it was great for the first two days but it did get a bit samey. BUT the Italian restaurant is amazing, make sure you book as soon as you can. It is part of the all inclusive package but needs to be booked at least two days in advance. Playa Blanca beach and the Marina were lovely and worth a visit but we didn't get so see anything else as we were there for such a short time. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a family break

Travelled with my husband and two year old daughter. I could not fault the hotel one bit. We stayed 10 nights all inclusive and from beginning to end it was amazing. Staff are wonderful, hotel gorgeous, entertainment brilliant and the food beautiful. My daughter had the best time and we will 100% be returning again soon! Shout out to Ruben the animation guy who is an asset to the hotel but the whole team in general were fantastic.

I would suggest this is better suited to families than couples/singles although there are quiet areas. Food was excellent with a different theme every night and something for everyone. We didn’t go for the drinks upgrade but don’t feel we missed out. The entertainment got better every night. The cinema was great. The pools were great. Usual stress getting a sunbed of course. There is an hour for inflatables each day. We forgot to try the Italian as it was always booked but that’s our fault for not persevering. The pool toilets could get smelly by the end of the day and one ladies not having a lock was annoying. Staff were amazing. Could have done with an extra sofa in the room (the kids bed is a double sofa). All in all - Expensive but probably worth it.

Could not fault this hotel... We wouldn't ordinarily got to playa Blanca its usually PDC, however we were with extended family & grandkids. This hotel caters so wl for families, words cannot describe the rooms for families 'amazing' however people who do not have children are catered for also, with separate adult only sunbeds & gated pools, rooms off main dining to eat without kids running at your feet... And the food, amazing, the staff were brilliant always willing to help, would go here again with the grandkids..

Very nice hotel, large room with dressing room and a place to put your cases out of the way and enough hangars to put your clothes on. Food was great, in fact probably the best all inclusive I have been too in a while. Sunbeds have mattresses which made them very comfortable. The restaurant has a separate dining area for adults only, there is a pool and sunbed area for adults only, however no bar in the evening for adults only and this was the except, there were hoards of young children running around the bar areas in the evening, this would have been great 10 years ago when our boys were young but not now. Not saying for a minute they were unruly but they don't tend to look where they are going so you have to be careful they don't run into you while you are carrying drinks. Bar service was great always a good few people serving behind the bar unlike many hotels we've been to the large one right next door for example. A 2 litre bottle of water was put in the room by the cleaner every day which was also unexpected. I used the gym most days, its a large gym which is Ok as long as there aren't more than two people wanting to use the free weights, it doesn't seem to be air conditioned or at least it wasn't turned on when I was in there so it tends to get very warm. All the staff are very friendly and helpful, hard to find any faults to be fair.

Absolutely lovely and clean hotel with friendly staff. Was a bit worried as first time we'd taken our three year old abroad. And reading some of the previous reviews wasn't sure what to expect. But we all had such a good time. We booked a merlin room which was very spacious lovely bathroom. We had a brilliant room next to the dragon slide and we got sun lounges just behind which was very quiet. Pool bar by the dragon slides was OK for drink but food was better at the main pool bar. Or restaurant serving food from 1. It was a bit of a walk but we're talking 3-5 mins. Dinner was served at 7pm which I think is a bit late with young kids so after reading some of the reviews about hearing children crying etc maybe they were hungry and tired. Lifeguards were at both pools in that area. Our son made friends with ivan the lifeguard who was so friendly and happy to talk to our son. Made his holiday!!! Main restaurant food was good with a selection pasta, salads plus fresh cooked meats. Plus fruit and selection of puddings. We was there for 11 night so to us it did get a bit repetitive but still very good. Staff were very attentive with clearing stuff away plus getting drinks. Pool bar areas were always clean and helpful with a good selection of all inclusive drinks. We did the evening mini disco a couple of times which our son enjoyed but he was shattered by the end of the night. BIG TIP there is a lovely beach that people climb too this wouldn't be suitable for small children however if you walk out the hotel by reception walk right and around to the other hotel (last in the row) your get to the same beach. Its so lovely there would definitely recommend taking a walk there it's only a 20 min walk and I'd say a bit bumpy but suitable for a buggy plus you get lovely views of the ocean. Lovely market aswell in town a 25-30 min walk on a Wednesday and Saturday which is worth taking a look. Absolutely brilliant hotel, staff (ivan especially) and location to have a little explore. Would definitely love to return!!!!

Fantastic place for a family holiday. Loads of pools, great food, spacious comfortable rooms. We were there with my son's family with a 7 year old and twin four year olds and my daughter's family with their two year old. We had a great time. The kids club are great. I would highly recommend this accommodation for a family holiday

We travelled to the hotel during UK May half term week, so hotel was busy. We were in a Merlin room which the kids loved, but was a bit of a walk from the main reception/ restaurant. We had a lovely week away and to kids loved the pools, club and evening disco. We enjoyed some quiet time as parents on the adults only area and Sasafe restaurant (which was a holiday highlight). We ate in all 4 restaurants and used both snack bars. The Sandofe restaurant was by far the best food, followed by the Italian. The food in the buffet restaurant was not the best we’ve had and the service sometimes seemed slow & drinks were never refilled or reoffered. For me the biggest concern of the holiday was the birds in the restaurant- they landed on the foods and took food away on numerous occasions and were often pearched over the table we were eating at. In the Italian restaurant, there were also birds and bread left at tables for patrons due to arrive and birds landing on them. At the snack bar by the kids pool, cooked red meat stayed out for several hours and again, birds all round. Main pool snack bar was better, as cooked fresh. Buildings work in the main buffet restaurant made things chaotic at times and would have been good to have food available in the dining area furthest away from the food, or coffee available with dinner. Staff were all friendly and polite, across the whole resort. Resort was clean and great access to the beach and a lovely walk to either papagayo or playa blanca. We might think about booking again as kids had a ball and walks were lovely, but would hope for restaurant improvements and would probably request a room more central.

Lovely big rooms with really comfy beds and choice of pillow types, big posh bathrooms with side jet showers and walk in wardrobe, friendly helpful staff, lots of pool areas to choose from, beachfront but the beach is very rocky, about 20 min walk to harbour, next to some shops and bars, bike rental shop next to hotel is great and has lots of electric bikes which are fab for cycling along the seafront with little effort.Merlin room was lovely for children and the kids clubs were great.Night entertainment was a bit hit and miss, some nights were a bit boring.Food choice and quality good but would of liked real sausages at breakfast not hotdog ones.Massages overpriced €65 for 50 minutes.On site photographer again very over priced.If you want a room upgrade it was cheaper to book before we went as I tried to upgrade whilst there and they wanted more. Cinema room was good fun.Hotel is huge so takes a while to work our best ways to navigate, its quite segregated in terms of kids area and rest of hotel.

Very big hotel, lots of ups and downs, not good for people with walking difficulties. Food very good and all restaurant staff very nice, including chefs. Pool bar excellent. Several pools for children one definite pool for adults, cold, but none English people didn't seem to care and rather rude. Long walk to marina, not flat.

Hard to fault this one. Our fifth visit. Excellent food. Segregated adult pool & dining if you don't like having children around. Sea view rooms have lovely view & sound of waves 24/7. The staff are all very pleasant efficient, & helpful. Immediately adjacent beach poor, but better ones within walking distance to either side

Spent an amazing week here with our two children. Food was excellent, so much choice, amazing quality and something for everyone. Perfect choice for children too. Loved the lunch time Saturday bbq around the pool, serving hot dogs and racks of ribs! The snack bars are brilliant, so your never hungry, serving a range of hot and cold food all through the day. My little boy loved the donuts! Staff are all super friendly and are great with the kids, especially the kids club. They know all the children's names after their first visit. I was a bit apprehensive at first with putting my 2 in kids club, but they are amazing with them and tight on security/safety. Nothing to worry about at all with their safety and care, the kids loved it! We stayed in a merlin room which was amazing if you have children. Lots of room for them to play and for everyone to have their own space. The rooms stay super dark and block out a lot of noise, so we all got a good night's sleep. Lots of pools to choose from, all except one are supposedly heated, however they were all pretty cold! Not many people in them in November! Maybe something that could be improved. One of the reasons we booked this hotel was the kids pool with the dragon slides, so it was a bit disappointing to see maintenance work going on with the flooring surrounding the pool for the entire week we were there. The pool was still open, but it limited the space for sitting/sunbathing and for the kids to get in and out. It didn't ruin our holiday as there's plenty of other pools, and I understand maintenance needs to happen. We used it once but after that stuck to the other pools, which the kids still enjoyed. There's plenty to do at this hotel, from the 5d cinema to the volleyball, football and basketball court. We bought our own balls and the kids loved spending time on the courts. Another thing to add is the amount of adult only areas at this hotel, which is brilliant considering how kid friendly it also is. An adults only pool which is away from everything and requires key card access, adults only restaurant and adults only areas of the buffet restaurant, away from the main room - if you don't have children you can have an amazing time here too as you are well catered for. Over all this is an excellent hotel which I would highly recommend to anyone! Nothing to fault, no complaints, we had an amazing week! Perfect family holiday.
