Head to Cala D’Or’s small coves, each sheltered by mountains, and you’ll experience fine white sand underfoot and warm, welcoming waters. Two buses, done up to look like trains, run at regular intervals between the resort, beaches and the marina. If you prefer a bigger beach, Es Trenc’s a half-hour bus ride away.
Cala D’Or’s marina is a place to linger. With high-quality restaurants and bar terraces, it’s the place to spot a celeb mooring their luxury yacht to enjoy this well-heeled, laid-back spot. It’s easy to reach too – it’ll only take you 20 minutes to walk there from the centre.
Once a tiny fishing village, now a fashionable food and shopping destination, Cala D’Or still retains its distinct Spanish charm. You’ll feel right at home if you know Ibiza too, as Cala D’Or’s buildings were based on the party place when it was developed. You’ll find cute white-washed villas everywhere. Oh and the dreamy Cala Mondrago's not far either.
Cala D’Or, Majorca
The biggest of Cala d'Or's five beaches, Cala Gran is a 40m stretch of fine, white sand lapped by clear blue waters. It's got Blue Flag status, sun loungers and parasols, and there's a play area for the kids. If you're feeling peckish, there are beach bars and restaurants, where you can grab a drink and a snack.
Cala D’Or, Majorca
At just 25 square metres, Cala Esmeralda may be a bit diddy, but it's a perfect place for catching some rays. The next beach along from Cala Ferrera, it's got lovely turquoise waters sheltered by a long cove which keeps the sea nice and calm. You can enjoy a drink or a snack at the bar and restaurant.
Cala D’Or, Majorca
Kids can enjoy the calm turquoise sea at Cala Ferrera, the next beach from Cala Serena. It's also great for snorkelling. Take a pedalo out, relax on a sunlounger or unwind with a massage from the beach masseuse. There are lifeguards to keep an eye on things and a bar for when you need a cooling drink.
