Mar Hotels Playa Mar & Spa

Just returned from a break away to this little gem of a hotel. Rooms are large, well equipped and with comfy beds and also a good sized terrace. .We were there with our daughter and our two small grandchildren on the kiddies first trip abroad and we were soooo happy with our choice of hotel. Great atmosphere, spotlessly clean , good food and superb staff..If you are looking for a hotel that is family friendly then look no further. The children’s entertainment was so good both during the day and in the evening the children loved the mini disco .The entertainment staff were absolutely great with them ...Paul being the firm fav with our grandchildren... Great entertainment for us oldies too .... We are already planning next years trip!!!

The hotel itself, the grounds, the rooms and the general areas are lovely and modern. The rooms are kept clean as are the general areas. However, the food is appalling and not up to standard for a 4 star hotel especially considering how much we paid for an all inclusive holiday. It's salty without any real flavour. A lot of the food including the veg is frozen and not fresh. The children's choices were very poor and I didn't understand why you had to specially order pasta with tomato sauce from a chef, surely this should be a children's staple?! The choice of food was also poor and not labelled properly and it is obvious they reuse food from the previous night. The themed food nights were also terrible and I would have preferred to have seen local food and produce cooked well. I also had raw meat served and had to send it back. The children's mini disco albeit fun was way too loud for small ears. It's a shame the food let this place down so much as the hotel itself is nice but as it's an all inclusive resort the food is an integral part of the experience and this needs major improvement.

Just had a fantastic week with our 5 year old. All the staff very friendly and attentive to our every need. The animation team were brilliant lots going on day and night, no pressure to join in. Evening entertainment very good. Swimming pools great, we loved the slides and the twice daily pool dance. Hotel very clean, rooms spacious and very comfy beds. Only down fall was that the food was not very hot, there was a good choice tho and if you timed it right could get warmer/hotter food. We would definitely return to this hotel

The hotel is mainly for children, the evening entertainment is aimed at children - there was Cartoon World, how is that entertainment for adults ? The food whilst well cooked was bland with not much variety or flavour. Saying that the hotel was well kept and clean, the staff (with the exception of the late night reception staff) where friendly and efficient.On arrival at 12.30am, we found no food available the not even a bottle of water in the room which is poor show. We had requested a ground floor room as 1 member of our party was disabled and the rude man on reception grunted that it was a ground floor room and pointed in the general direction of the building. On finally finding the building we found that the room was first floor. As there is a lift this wasn't a major issue but by the time we found the room my friend was in a lot of pain as we had been trolling around the ground floor of 2 buildings looking for a room that wasn't there. On returning to reception we had to beg for water to have a bottle thrust at us and have something I can only assume was rude mumbled in Spanish. This was the only negative thing we encountered with staff during our entire stay but sadly first impressions count.

This was the first time we has visited this hotel and our first impressions were were extremely favourable.The room was excellent and the restaurant offered a wide choice of good quality food. The entertainment was mainly targeted at the children but we were quite happy with the offerings for the adults as our expectations in this respect were fairly low anyway. The choice of drinks in the bars were excellent and of good quality.The staff were generally friendly and efficient and some were very good.The pool was clean and the loungers were readily available. We visited in September/October for 2 weeks but I suspect it could be somewhat crowded earlier in the season.

We had fantastic holiday at Playa Mar. This hotel was ideal for our family and kids(Girl 2 years and Boy 4 years). Pool are and slides were excellent with lots to do for the kids. A big shout out to the Entertainment team. The guys and girl were fantastic. Even during Evening events they still played with the kids and kept them happy during the shows. This gave Mum and Dad a little breather. Play park also great for kids when they get bored at night. Facilities throughout the hotel were excellent. Food was great with lots of choice. I heard a few complaints but considering the number of guests there was always plenty choice. Themed evenings, Spanish night in particular were a great success. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

We were very pleasantly surprised at the excellence of the hotel and it's facilities. Spa, restaurant and outdoor swimming pools for the children. Everything was so new and fresh. Beds were very comfortable as were the furnishings. Good sized balcony.
