Xanadu Island

We had a wonderful holiday to celebrate a special birthday and anniversary. We found every aspect of the hotel great. Fantastic sized accommodation - we had Sunset Suite- the staff were very good too with a special mention of the team at the Archipelago Bar by the 2nd pool ( which our room overlooked). The staff here were absolutely fantastic, they made you feel like you were the best people in the hotel! Special mention for Yegor, Yaroslav(think that's right spelling) and Adam who were the most attentive bar staff we've had the privilege to meet but they were all very nice! There is a lunch food service at this bar which we used virtually every day(ate buffet lunch once), the food was excellent and more like you'd have back home, that's not why we ate there, we were just much happier in that area. The food in main restaurant was good, Turkish style mostly, maybe not to every ones liking but we had no issues with anything. They also had a bbq/grill arrangement just outside on terrace which had a good choice if you prefer more traditional style of meat choice, was usually a lamb, chicken, beef and one fish dish to choose from,or have it all lol. The evening entertainment was only just kicking into gear during our holiday, so bit low key but suited us. Daytime activities available if that's your choice. Range of alcoholic drinks was good, Branded ones, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Smirnoff for example, if you want branded then ask for it when ordering as they do serve locals too. In room safes and activities like ten pin bowling are all part of all inclusive which is good. Range of nice toiletries replenished daily, room mini bar also though only contains soft drinks, coke, fanta orange, fruit drink cartons, milk and plenty of waters. Large waters supplied for tea/coffee making along with some teas and coffee sachets. Two pool towels per person provided and can be changed when you wish. Bedding changed weekly unless you leave card on bed for them to change in between, which they are happy to do. Room towels changed more frequently. At time of our goal hotel wasn't full so there was absolutely no problems getting singers at any time of day. There are also couple sundeck/piers available for adults only plus a beach area, we never used but other guests we spoke with said they were all nice with plenty sunbeds available. We had a wonderfully laid back holiday and will most certainly visit again!

My wife and I were first time visitors to this hotel and had a lovely holiday. We wanted a week to relax and recharge while soaking up the sun, and that was exactly what we got. The sunset suite was very spacious and clean with a very large bath and separate, powerful shower. Small attention to detail like lights in the wardrobes when you open them all helped make the suite special. The staff were all exceptionally friendly, polite and went the extra mile to make you feel welcome. The sun lounger drinks service was an added bonus that we were not expecting and the staff all worked very hard ensuring guests were not without a drink. Brands like Havana club rum and Absolut vodka helped ensure all drinks were top notch!! I’d seen some poor reviews relating to food before travelling but my experience was very different. I’m not a fussy eater but I felt there was loads of choice and and also that the food was definitely warm. Yes, there were a few dishes on the buffet I decided were not for me but to cater for so many different palates, that’s bound to happen. We didn’t eat at the a la carte restaurants as we were totally happy with the buffet. The quiet pool snack bar was also delicious for lunch. The crispy chicken was a firm favourite!! So, a clean hotel with beautiful grounds, comfy sun loungers, tasty food and drinks and great staff. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone. I love to travel and with there being a big world out there, I’ve never returned to a hotel I’ve visited before. This hotel though could easily persuade me to return as I felt it had the feel of a Caribbean resort but much closer to home with Turkish vibe! Just returned from a week at the hotel and had a very relaxing time. The hotel itself is in a very pretty location and the sea around it is crystal clear and very welcoming. The accommodation itself is very nice indeed, comfy rooms, amazing bathrooms. We were in a Sunset Suite which had a great balcony to see....yes the sunset. Our daughter had her own space in the lounge area on a sofa bed which we managed to get a more comfy mattress for after the first night The main pool area is spectacular with an infinity pool overlooking the bay. There is a drinks service by the pool which is great and all the staff are very friendly in this area. There is never a problem getting a sunbed. The beach area is small and small stones by in large, so if you like soft sand, don't come here! There are also some small bays that have wooden decking on and are great for leaping into the sea, and snorkelling etc. The poolside bar also serves a nice lunch menu, simple things but all good. Our real issue was the overall food on offer, not to say it wasn't god quality or fresh but even after a week we were bored. We tried the Italian a la carte, but that was totally hopeless and the other Aegean restaurant never seemed to be open. The waiting staff at both breakfast and dinner aren't really on the ball and you are always asking for more water or wine or whatever. Having said that there is loads of salads and hot choices, most of it quite random to British eyes, and a nightly BBQ station. Just overall rather dull and samey. One funny thing was there was no bar scene at all, although there were a coupe of nice bars there was no one ever in them so the place felt a bit soulless some of the time. All the entertainment is pretty low key and focuses on live music by the poolside in the evening and a couple of 'shows' in amphi theatre, worst miming in history but really tried hard! Overall we had a very relaxing holiday so if you are not as foody as we are and you want to relax in a comfy hotel then this is a good choice. For info its about 1 hour and 15 minutes from the airport on a private transport.

I loved this hotel. I like the location & the main public areas were well designed. The bedrooms were massive (all suites) & we were double upgraded to a Romance Suite with a huge round bed. Unfortunately we had to request another room as the air con wasn't working in this block. This wasn't a problem, & the bell boy (Sefa) was really helpful. Our new room (a Sunset Suite) was also impressive. The gardens were well maintained, & attractive, & the pool areas were well designed. The pool temperature was on the cold side though. Plenty of sun beds for everyone & plenty of space between them. Absolutely no need to reserve the sunbeds unless you liked a particular spot. All staff (without exception) were attentive & professional. Staff who gave us exceptional service were Sefa the bell boy, Ibrahim on reception, Mert the barman & Nesli, Hakan & Adem (waiters in different section of the Hotel) The food was fine, plenty of choices at each meal, but the food in the Al a carte restaurant was a little disappointing. Would I go again? Defnitely! No hotel is going to suit every one all the time, but this one ticked most of the boxes for me.

Myself and my husband went here in October the first week in October and the experience was terrible we had cigarettes stolen fron our room by housekeeping staff other guests we spoke to had jewlellery stolen. However i reported this to hotel manager who kindly reimbursed us for our duty free cigarettes. The food at the hotel was terrible. Had to eat food each day at the pool bar burger or chicken goujons or Xanadau pizza.

Excellent hotel, spotlessly clean. Good food with plenty of choice. Pool areas were good with plenty sunbeds and clean towels whenever required. Staff were attentive without being in your face. Local bus service was at the end of the road regular and cheap. One criticism would be the grumpy man in the hotel shop who seemed to be so inconvienienced when you ask him to sell you a newspaper

Beautiful hotel, food and great staff but where was the entertainment??? For a luxury resort which is very expensive the entertainment was very very poor. Bingo one night then a quiz the next and no entertainment some nights after 9.3pm. Will go back to the Hilton Dalaman or Letoonia Fethiye next time as their entertainment is 5* amazing. Xanadu Island is not an island at all but a peninsula so misinterpretation by the hotel. If you are happy to be the only one of a handful of German guests and you want a quiet holiday this could be for you. Jet2 holiday rep poor too

this is the third year we have visited xanadu island resort in Bodrum. It really is something else from management to all the staff and animation team all so friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them you are made to feel very welcome indeed. We were there for my birthday and anniversary and we were upgraded on arrival to the Romance suites and on both occasions flowers and balloons were put in the room, wine, birthday cake and anniversary cake and nice letters from Aytek one of the managers there who is wonderful!! the hotel is spotless, food and drinks were very good something to suit everyone. I really cannot fault anything at all at Xanadu!!
