Playacanela Hotel

a Spanish holiday! everyone is super friendly and helpful. the language barrier could have been uncomfortable as we dont speak Spanish but everyone allowed for that and we got what we asked for mostly. the staff knew more English than i expected and were great. plenty choice of food.very quiet as not into summer season yet but it suited us had plenty room to spread out and didnt have any problem getting sun lounger at pool or use of indoor pool.we went half board luckily as not many places to eat in immediate area but the plus side is nobody hassling you to eat/drink in their cafe/pub.loved it. hope they dont change to fit with us.

Hotel was nice enough but certainly not a 4 star and definitely not geared for British Tourists at all. Kids couldn't go to kids club because they pretty much only spoke Spanish. Hotel entertainment was all in Spanish so again we couldn't go to that - no real entertainment either - just games played by the animation team - all in Spanish!! Food was repetitive - stick to the fresh cooked fish and meat, which is limited as all the other prepared food was luke warm. Make sure your meat is cooked properly as I had raw pork and chicken on my plate a couple of times. The area is beautiful but not a lot to do as it is a work in progress for being a tourist hub.

Won't go back there in a hurry it was that bad that jet 2 gave me some money back the hotel manager gave us some vouchers for cocktails and a free spa treatment and sent up wine and fruit to our room I only wanted a nice hotel and nice holiday I never got that wish I had booked the Ibero star next door

October visit so nice and quiet we needed rest and got just that. lovely corner rooms and views of sea and pool we were well treated by all the staff both restuarant and bar, even the room cleaners breezed in and out quietly very efficiently. I have learned a considerable amount of spanish and most were impressed so it helps when I tell a little joke .can't wait to return 85 year old geriatric Eddie G from Southport.

The area is very quiet , however the hotel lovely and great value for money forget about the moaners.if you are looking for english breakfast bars and noise Stay Away but if you like peace and quiet a lovely beach super clean hotel lovely staff youve found it Eddie G.

this place is not for English, there is nothing for you to do all the entertainment is in Spanish, the kids club is in Spanish, the food is ok but not fantastic as it is very bland, you book a standard room but get given a junior room, if you leave your stuff on your sunbed they remove it and leave it at reception, no holiday rep to speak to. I sent jet 2 an email and they refuse to talk to me as I am not the lead my husband is even though we both paid for the holiday, the staff will be in the middle of serving you and if a Spanish person turns up they stop your order and serve the Spanish, you have a card for all inclusive which you have to hand over to the bar and they swap yours and give the all inclusive card to a Spanish person and you have theres so next time you go bar to get a drink they try to charge you, you have to go reception and get it sorted this happened to us 5 times this is not a place I would ever recommend for English

Just returned from jet2 holiday to Isla Canela staying in the Playa Canela hotel. The hotel was clean and well maintained and the staff always friendly and polite. The food was very good always something for everyone. Our room was large and had a very big balcony . The hotel was very quiet at night although quite lively during the day. It was situated in a quiet area with a beautiful beach and promenade access to other areas was limited but we Managed by using the local bus and ferries which were great and very cheap. Loved it!

Excellent location, hotel and all round all inclusive holiday. We are a family with two children 5 & 8, food was great, entertainment although mainly Spanish was good and we had a really great time. No complaints about anything.

Hotel pool could do to have been a lot bigger given the size of the place. Friendly staff and very clean. Good value for money. I wouldn't stay for more than 7 days if I returned to the resort as not a great deal to do.

Just returned from a weeks AI holiday with my partner and my 14 hr old son. Reading previous reviews we were expecting a Spanish only hotel. There were as many English as Spaniards for the whole week. Also, ignore any negative comments about the staff. They are all very friendly and can't do enough for you. The only time we saw any of the bar staff being slightly curt with holidaymakers was when the holidaymaker did not say please when ordering drinks which in my view is fair enough. Simple por favor made all the difference! There was a good selection of food with 3 different types of fish and meat dishes every lunch and dinner times. Anyone who says there is nothing to eat can only be used to chicken nuggets, of which there were none thankfully. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which was a little tired. The safe didn't work but we had no issues as the maids were clearly honest and our money and things were safe. If you like evening entertainment then you will be disappointed. All the entertainment was for children and went on until after 11pm each night. Thankfully it was away from the bar area. We had no issues getting sun beds, they do not allow people to save beds with towels in the morning. however, if you are back at your bed before 9.30 you can get your beds then go for breakfast and be back without towels being removed. All in all, a great place to go if you have children under 12. If not think about somewhere else as they will have little to do.

Just got back from playa canela hotel, hotel clean, drinks super, we had a superior room with a family of four and we all slept together in one room,not great, food was ok until the chef started cooking meat on the grill to find my child's sausage was raw and cold, kids club was disgusting if you weren't Spanish you weren't welcome they made it quite clear, 2 very disappointed kids age 6 and 7, will not be back sorry

This is just the plce for young children to enjoy themselves but if you want a nice restfull holiday by the pool then go out of season ie not June July or August as this is the time for the spanish to take the children to one of the best hotes on the strip.

My wife and I had a lovely holiday in Costa de la Luz . The hotel was good and the bedroom was clean and tidy. The staff were attentive and friendly. The air conditioning in the theatre/bar and the restaurant did not appear to be working, giving hot, claustrophobic conditions, especially so in the restaurant. The hotel is classed as a 4* establishment - It is not, as it was grossly let down by the quality of food and poor level of entertainment provided. Poor food quality:- While there was variety of choice(very repetitive); including pork, pork and pork stew on a regular basis, the basic problem was the actual quality of the food - mainly cheap cuts of meat / fish, which were absolutely tasteless and after dissecting out the bad bits, there was not a lot left! The salads were fine, but the soups were pathetic - corn flour, some leftovers and a dollop of "fat", - absolutely tasteless!! Then there were the desserts - mainly bland cake, jelly and pink blancmange! Entertainment:- Nothing, the occasional singer, and the enthusiastic animation team providing childish "games" for children and presumably parents. Not good. The second week of our AI holiday, saw us going out of the Hotel during the evening down to the nearby marina, participating in meals and drink along with many other guests from our hotel We will not be returning.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Playacanela Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet relaxing holiday. The hotel staff are all really nice and helpful. The rooms are modern and clean, in fact the whole hotel is spotless. The restaurant serves a large variety of meals, all of which we enjoyed. We went all inclusive and were served branded drinks at the bar which was much nicer than some of the cheaper alternatives that can be served in some hotels. The pool area is lovely, with palm trees everywhere so there is always somewhere to get out of the sun. Isla Canela is a beautiful place, very quiet and peaceful with a lovely harbour within minutes from the hotel. Would definitely go there again!
