Hotel AR Almerimar

Reception staff very helpful. Food was quite poor. Hotel could do with a total refurbishment, bar area was quite tatty with damaged outdated furniture. Reception sofas/seating would benefit from a good clean. Upside: the pools were good, especially the kids pool usually with plenty of sunbeds. Nice walk/promenade just outside that runs the length of the beach and beyond but the only place to walk is into Almerimar which does have a lovely marina and a couple of shops and a handful of bars/restaurants. Entertainment last up until midnight, so if your room overlooks the entertainment stage which is outside you have no chance of an early night. Was okay holiday but wouldn't return.

I’m not quite sure how this hotel gains a 4 star rating. They have a problem with flies in the restaurant and whilst you are eating outside which is really off putting whilst you are eating; they are also constantly lending on you around the pool area. The children’s swim area is big and really good for the children. There are a few missing tiles I think the pool so it could do with a bit of maintenance. Food choice is very poor and there is NO real options for younger children or fussy eaters. The hotel rooms are spacious and are generally kept clean. The soft drinks at the bar are from large bottles so they are ALWAYS served flat. I stuck to water mainly as flat Diet Coke is not very nice! The area in which the hotel is in is good. There is a children’s ride park a two minute walk away which is really good and it’s a lovely walk along the beach to the harbour where there are restaurants and bars. Having said that, I don’t think I would go here again.

The whole hotel experience horrible , road works everywhere around the hotel , very noisy ,so were not able to relax at all , rooms very old , food -not much choice , but very friendly waitresses I must say . Very noisy at night outside the room in the lobby,the lobby echoed.loads of school children came both weeks which made pool very crowded at times.The location was excellent for walking and the marina.
