Hotel Avala Resort and Villas

This is the second time we've stayed here. We love the location, the views and the food-a great variety of food Bathrobes are provided along with slippers. No need to take a beach towel as these are provided. T

hotel rooms were great modern roomy great location with lots of facilities only negative's staff on reception unhelpful no time for question they just say no to every thing ask were we find departure times and just don't don't no ( but spoke to jet2 on contact number on sheet and informed me it was near reception in a room ) why reception couldn't of told us that god know its there hotel and we went has a family but put in different places ( daughter was on the other side of the building on another floor ) was not happy about that we both booked mountain view room paying extra and we had view of mountains they had view of building has we booked same rooms at same time and are room were very different and staff wouldn't but us closer even tho the hotel was very empty

This hotel is conveniently located right beside the old town and walking distance to bars, restaurants, banks and shops. The staff were helpful and friendly and I didn't encounter any issues with the staff as some have noted. I was B&B and the buffet breakfast was of a good standard and was always plentiful. The outdoor pool was closed due to maintenance but the indoor pool was open so no real problem. I enjoyed my stay and had a relaxing time and would definitely return. Concierge staff were very friendly and helpful and need a special mention.

Returned to this hotel after a few years and would agree with other travellers re some niggles but on the whole still think this is best location for all that is available in Budva. The hotel design is dark but you soon get used to it and the coolness is an added bonus when you return from a very hot day on beach etc. Breakfast caters for every taste and nationality and staff are efficient at filling and refilling . Breakfast room is big and very busy but is very light and airy and you never feel cramped. There are various pools including a fantastic Infinity pool , and a big indoor pool if weather is not so good. The bar service is very good and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. It was wonderful to just walk out of the hotel and be some steps away from all the restaurants and atmosphere of Budva. Throughout the hotel there are nooks and crannies where you can , if you wish, sit comfortably and peacefully listening to music or reading. Our room also had a balcony with very comfortable seats and a magical sea view and view over the old town. It had everything we required and the bed was very comfortable. It is a pity that the owners had natural dark untreated wood used for units in room and bathroom as they do not stand up to use by so many people. Pity they had not topped them with glass. Our room had the usual bathroom with hand held shower but also a quite big wet room with a great shower. Towels were changed every day. . We did have a Booking issue but the receptionists tried their best to resolve it and the Manager apologised and compensated us in another way for this . Porters were on hand to help with luggage. All staff we encountered were very pleasant and when approached about anything could not have been more helpful. Regardless of some little niggles we would still stay at Avala if we return again to Budva.

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday this is not the place for you. The hotel is okay and a good location for the town however the communal areas of the hotel are dark and dingy, you have to be careful when walking down the stairs as there is only low level lighting. The dining room is also very dark and the food is not particularly appealing, there are only 6 umbrellas around the main pool and non around the top pool. The beach area is very noisy with the bars competing to see who can play the loudest dance music which goes on all day until about 6 o'clock for a couple of hours and then starts again, its so loud we could hear it from our hotel room balcony. I would not go to this hotel or resort again.

We stayed in a standard room which was very dark due to the dark wood and dark decoration and not very big. Staff were very good, the rooms were clean and the use of the beach just what we wanted. Warning there are a lot of steps. Also the prices charged for drinks differ every day, a bottle of wine one day 20 Eur became 25 Eur the next!

The Avala is an absolutely stunning hotel situated right at the entrance to the old town of Budva. There are masses of places to eat especially if you like fish but there is also an excellent Chinese and Italian Restaurant right on the harbour where you can sit and watch the stunning boats come in. The hotel beach is free but is quite stoney so take swimming shoes. The only problem with the beach is the racket from next door which started every day about three. (Which is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars). Listening to two really loud sources of music trying to out compete each other was wearing but just inspired us to shift to the nearest pub for afternoon cocktails. Service on the beach was good and not too expensive. Lunch was amazing and 7 Euros for a toasted club sandwich and fries was superb. If you are wanting peace and quiet stay up this end of town. The other end is club city which is fun to watch but doesn't help if you are wanting a quite relaxing meal out. Food and drink is still relatively cheap in Montenegro and the people are absolutely delightful so it's worth a visit. A wee smile from our morning waiting staff in the Avala would not have gone amiss.

All the staff were very friendly and spoke English. We booked a room but were upgraded to a villa which was really nice having the bedroom downstairs and an additional toilet upstairs. The breakfast was really good they had everything from full English to fresh fruit - continental and toast etc.
