Hotel Metropole Sorrento

The staff were great and very friendly. It was very clean for the most part but would have been better if they hoovered everyday as the floor got quite dusty. The rooms are big with nice balconies. Bar and pool area were good too and the drinks are really good value. The dinners included with the half board were ok though I think they were just microwave meals so if you can afford it definitely eat out as the food in town is great. It’s probably a 15minute walk into the town centre but be aware there is no footpath for about the first 250m so you’re walking in the road but everyone has to do it so it’s safer than it looks and well lit at night plus there are busses and taxis too.

We stayed a week at the Hotel Metropole on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is very clean and modern, staff lovely very freindly and helpful. Pool and bar area very good and breakfast everything you need. Would stay there again and recommend to friends and family.

The Metropole was an excellent base - up the hill from Sorrento - from which to explore the area. Have your "walking feet" on as it's a 20/30 minute walk down (and up!) the fairly steep hill but worth it for the breathtaking views en route. Our room was "traditional" but very comfortable and we choose to stay half board. There were plenty of choice at breakfast and a menu for your choices for that evening. There were 3 options for each course for dinner and the food was good. We chose a room at the back of the hotel as there is some road noise which is much less at the back with a nice view from our balcony. The staff were attentive and generous at all times. One tip would be not to pay the tour company inflated trip prices for Pompei, the Amalfi coast and Capri when you can do these easily and at far more affordable prices yourself. 39 euros return from the harbour on the fast boat to Capri, which is fabulous!

Having travelled for hours in the heat it would have been really nice to have had a welcome drink of tea, coffee or juice as there are no facilities in the rooms, only in the bar (high price) or the minibar (higher price)

The hotel appears to be in the midst of updating. Some parts are lovely and some are very tired and in need os attention. Some of the staff are also very dated and don't give the impression that they give a damn - the younger ones are very pleasant and try very hard to please

2 week stay at this lovely rustic Italian hotel where the staff done their upmost to ensure all guests were happy and enjoying their stay. Food was brilliant, evening meals are ordered at breakfast in advance and guests are given quite a lot of choice and no meal was repeated within our stay which we thought was excellent. Breakfast was same most mornings but as we were going out and about this did not bother us much as it was just a put me on until we had lunch. The hotel is situated just outside Sorrento town on a slight incline so may not suit everyone but there is a bus which stops right outside to the hotel and a bus stop a bit further down the road which you can pay to get on (Not Sita buses as need a card before embarking for them), we mostly walked in and out of town because of the views and refreshing breeze rolling in from the sea.

Everything about hotel is excellent.only downfall is the walk to town with no pavement for 200m. The food was excellent and very prompt by a well organised team of staff. all the staff were helpful and made our holiday a special time in the beautiful Sorrento .
