Hotel Alpha

The staff were superb, really friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained. Air-con is controlled by the front desk and whilst it was possible to have the settings altered we found it perfect for our needs. The proximity of the railway station was useful for getting around, cheap fares and regular services. When opting to stay on a half-board basis at the Alpha I was persuaded to do so due to the number of positive reviews regarding the food served. Sadly this aspect of the holiday failed to meet my expectations and I found the quality on offer very disappointing indeed. Though I must say that the freshly made pizzas were excellent, if a tad on the large side.

this hotel is amazing , the staff cannot do enough for you . Especially Salvatore & his team . the hotel is set in lush gardens is beautifully clean . the choice of food everyday is fantastic & entertainment a few times a week,gala evening included . location is good, only a short train ride away to Sorrento itself . we loved this hotel & will deffinately return again .

We will admit that our whole view of the hotel was coloured on the first afternoon of a two week stay. Having just unpacked we opened the balcony doors and realised our room was beside a very busy road junction and the traffic fumes on the balcony and coming into the room were very unpleasant. We asked for a change. The swap option for many reasons was worse than the original room so we declined. We never used the balcony and mostly kept the doors shut. If we had being staying for a long weekend it probably would not have been such an issue, but two weeks was a long time to spend thoroughly disliking the location of the room. Added to which only on the day before we left did the hotel clear the balcony of lots of pots and troughs of dead and overgrown plants and tidy the whole area up. On the last morning, of a rainy holiday, we were asked to go down several flights of steps and wait for the pick up coach on the pavement outside. In the event we did not get wet; but if we had that was no concern of the receptionist.The hotel's saving grace was Salvatore the MD of the dining room. This man is exceptional, he runs the dining room very efficiently but with immense charm and makes all his guest feel special.

Hotel clean, a short train journey to Sorrento just one stop. Train five minutes walk from hotel. There are several steps up to the hotel which would be difficult for older people to negotiate with a suitcase. No slope. Breakfast lacked variety. Every day the hot selection was scrambled egg, bacon, sausage and baked beans. There was the facility to boil your own egg! Had to ask for bacon and fresh orange juice, nothing was automatically replenished. Coffee came in jugs, which means means the second cup was always cold. Evening meals were okay but felt disappointed overall. Staff friendly. Wouldn't return.
