Blue Sea Holiday Village

If you are English and are going on holiday with your children then prepared to be disappointed. We booked with friends, 2 families with 3 6 year old's. It was advertised as being great for families and having a fantastic kids club and entertainment. This is true if you are Italian but not if you are English. We were treated very differently, the kids club wouldn't welcome the English children. All the entertainment was in Italian too. We spoke to the Jet2 rep who said she was aware of the issues and was trying to sort it with the manager. The next evening whilst we were out we were told that 2 young adults in white t-shirts that spoke some English had run a kids disco at the kids pool for the English children. Honestly the Italian children from their tour operator were treated so differently, kids were given great back packs and gifts by the hotel mascot, the kids club looked great and they all seemed to be enjoying the entertainment. But the English children were just not welcome. So sad, to explain to our children, in a world where we encourage equal rights and inclusiveness, that they weren't welcome because they were English. Kids pools were great, but no toilets or snacks available here, but Dimitrius the bar man made the best drinks from the camper van bar here. Buffet restaurant, busy and poorly labelled food, so struggled with vegetarian and allergy guests. Kids menu was a little strange too and not at their level so they can't access it and in a busy section of the restaurant. Drinks are all self service, glasses in the restaurant and plastic cups outside. Best drinks at the kids pool and at night at the jungle bar, but drinks very syrupy. The snack bar at the main pool was good for lunch but the same everyday. Pizza (big queues), salads, gyros, chips, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, crepes and ice creams. One ping pong table. Nothing else. Playground near the kids pool isn't suitable for younger children. The metal slides and fireman's pole would burn children in the sun. But even our adventurous kids struggle to access it and at night it was too dark to use, no lighting. Rooms are nice. Owners have clearly spent alot on fixtures and fittings but they have been poorly fitted. Hotel still not ready and workmen are working around the hotel, finishing skirting boards, painting, putting up signs, changing light switches and putting up signs. Including painting under the kids water slides whilst kids were on them and fitting pool depth signs.

Hotel and staff are lovely very pleasant and helpful. The bar staff and the lady who makes the pancakes and ice creams are so pleasant loved them. We arrived early hours to be told that our rooms were underground with no lift even though we’d informed jet2 we needed an accessible room as we had a wheelchair so not a great start especially as the wheelchair ramp into the hotel was taped closed. There was nobody to help us with the cases and wheelchair. We did speak to reception in the morning who were so helpful and had us moved although again there was no help. The food is nice not amazing but be careful if you have allergies as nothing is labelled. The hotel is focused mainly on Italian holidaymakers. All the the entertainment is in Italian day and night even the kids mini disco is in Italian all the other children just had to watch the other kids and follow them. Even the DJ at the pool was all Italian. We didn’t have children with us but so many were upset by it as they said it’s nice when the kids can go to kids club and join in the entertainment which they couldn’t do unless they spoke Italian. They do say it’s multi lingual but we never experienced that at all. There are lovely pools but be aware there are no lifeguards even at the aqua park. Don’t go looking for other restaurants as there’s only one. The Italian, Greek ,health bar, patisserie and gelato are all in the pool bar as is the ping pong table. They were all nice but it is covered over and like many Greek places smoking is allowed inside the pool bar which made it uncomfortable for many especially with children. The staff absolutely made the holiday. A taxi to Faliraki was only 15euros which we did a couple of times and quite a few went to Rhodes town on the bus at the end of the road which was only 2.5 euros. Hope this helps anyone going

Although the hotel is still being updated from the previous owners, we found the hotel totally clean, the staff extremely friendly and obliging (especially the reception desk, bar staff - who appeared to have our drinks waiting as we walked up to the bar, the waitresses and one member of the entertainment staff who was so enthusiastic and never let his enthusiasm drop all week - he also seemed to work 24 hrs a day. Suitably located for our needs but some may want more in the way of restaurants near by. The rooms were very comfortable and the air-con was effective. Only thing to let it down, which was of no fault of the hotels, were a small party of idiots on our last night who decided to be extremely noisy when we were in bed and also somewhat destructive as well. The hotel cannot be responsible for those idiots.
