It’s easy to venture from the town to Torrox Costa. Here you’ll find popular diving schools, restaurants and a pristine promenade that follows the coastline. It’s also worth visiting the market for local produce at bargain prices.
At the coast, you’ll also find a centre around the lighthouse dedicated to the Roman ruins and mosaics that have been discovered in the area. While you’re there, you won’t have far to walk to unwind on Torrox Beach.
Costa del Sol
Once the capital of Islamic Spain, Cordoba is full of treasures and the grand arches of the Great Mosque is the jewel in the crown. Other highlights include Alcazar, a fortress built by the Christians, the Calahorra Fort, which guards the Roman Bridge and the ancient Jewish Synagogue, now a museum.
Costa del Sol
The dramatic, five-kilometre long Rock of Gibraltar stands tall off the Costa del Sol, featuring in many a sea view. A British overseas territory, it’s home to red pillar-boxes, English pubs, bookmakers and also a thriving population of wild Barbary macaque monkeys. Good for a day trip.
Costa del Sol
Revered for the Moorish Alhambra palace, Granada is a popular destination. Explore the narrow streets of the Albayzín and Realejo quarters. Visit the Capilla Real, where Spain’s notorious Catholic Monarchs are entombed, and the lavishly decorated Basilica of St John of God.
