Tamariu’s bay is backed by pines, and expands into small coves, making it perfect for picking some space to sprawl out on. The beaches are some of the coast’s most enchanting, and provide shelter great for families with little ones. You can even enjoy a pick-me-up coffee along the promenade.
Getting involved in the daily rhythm is essential. Why not go diving and discover the remarkable depths in the caves under Llosa de Cala Nova? If you’re around on 15 August, the Festival of Tamariu is all sing-song and foam parties! Further afield, you could journey to Cadaqués or beautiful Barcelona.
Costa Brava
For nature lovers and keen birdwatchers, Aiguamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park is a must-see. With diverse ecosystems and rivers, lakes, wetlands, beach, pastures and meadows you can spot over 300 bird species. Look out for storks, heron or even a booted eagle. There are hides, marked trails and a visitors’ centre.
Costa Brava
One of the largest protected natural reserves in Catalonia. There are loads of really cool plants to see that don’t grow elsewhere, and if you’re lucky you might spot a stripeless tree frog or the flapping wings of a European shag. People also report seeing whales off the coast so keep an eye out...
Costa Brava
One of the best places to play golf on the Costa Brava, this 18-hole course has panoramic views across the Mediterranean landscape. Play the 6,071-metre course, par 71, with 4 tees at each hole and the Pyrenees in the background. Then relax on the terrace with a drink or enjoy a meal in the restaurant.
