Find out moreTucked away on Sicily’s north-western coastline is the dinky village of Scopello. With just a handful of traditional restaurants, a historic baglio and a few shops, this is the place for a slow-paced holiday. There’s also a pebbly plot down by the water for relaxing on and crystal-clear waters for swimming in.

With its cool cove and pretty little lanes, it’s not surprising that this picturesque village has provided the backdrop for a whole host of films and TV shows like Ocean’s Twelve and an episode of Inspector Montalbano. Why not visit the nearby Zingaro Nature Reserve to see more of Sicily’s beauty?
Down by the bay sits the dusky pink tonnara, a tuna fishery dating back to the 13th century. Once an integral part of village life, it’s now been turned into an apartment-style hotel and café. There’s even a museum where you can learn about the history of this historic building.
Sicily
See one of Sicily’s most stunning natural beauty spots on the east coast, around 20km from Taormina and 50km from Mount Etna. The unusual rock formations of the Alcantara Gorge have been formed by lava and water flowing from the volcano and the Alcantara River, one of the island’s only rivers that flows all year round. Why not cool off in the cooling pools?
Sicily
Mesmerising Mount Etna is Europe’s largest and most active volcano and you’ll find it on the island’s north-east coast. The volcano has shaped much of the Sicilian landscape and history for thousands of years and it also has the UNESCO stamp, so you know it’s worth a visit! Explore on a guided hike or ride the cable car to see the lava formations from above.
Sicily
The Medieval façade of Norman Palace is extremely striking upon first view but once you step inside, it’s all about glamour and opulence. You'll find it in the city of Palermo, around an hour's drive from Cefalu. The stunning interiors feature walls and ceilings adorned with gold mosaics and intricate frescoes. Don’t miss out on a walk through the charming courtyard to see its impressive cloisters.
