The town is set back from the beach, but emerges from the cover of trees, making it ideal for children to paddle and dip in the water. You can also find jet-skiing, if you fancy something more thrilling. Tavernas offering chilled beverages and light bites are even on tap to keep you fuelled.
The Corfu Trail really marks Acharavi on the map with ramblers. With Mount Pantokrator looming large in the background, blanketed by rich vegetation, opportunities for adventure are endless. The wowing Roman baths and temple are popular finds as you explore the local area on the many walks, too.
Acharavi, Corfu
The three-kilometre long Acharavi Beach is the perfect blend of sand and shingle. You might need your beach shoes, but with its clean, clear waters and shallows safe for swimming, it’s clear to see why it’s so popular with families. You can hire pedalos or simply stretch out on a sun lounger and it’s a short walk to restaurants for a bite to eat.
Acharavi, Corfu
If you want to escape the heat on the beach head up the winding road to Strinilas, the highest village on the island. Enjoy spectacular views and cool mountain air and see what life is like in a traditional mountain village. Eat lunch in one of the cafés and try some of the local Moschato wine in one of the taverns.
Acharavi, Corfu
At the Folklore Museum of Acharavi you can get a sense of how people lived, what they wore and the tools they used in Corfu from the 18th century on. The small museum has two rooms with photos, furniture, coins, clothes and tools. Entry is inexpensive, exhibits are labelled in English and there’s a coffee shop.
