Hidden within the faded pastels of the buildings in Labin, you’ll find many old churches, traditional shops and Istrian restaurants. Throughout the calendar year, you can enjoy soups, pastas, seafood, cheeses, olive oil-doused savoury snacks, and more. As for wine, don’t miss a chance to sample a local tipple.
Galleries showcase pieces made by a range of artists, both visiting and native to Labin. Once you’ve had your fill, there’s plenty on offer to keep you active. Sail a rowing boat, go hiking or trekking, hire a bike, or even keep it simple with a gentle meander around the coast.

Cres Island can be reached easily, either from Brestova, which is on the Istrian peninsula, or from nearby Krk Island. It has a Venetian flavour, thanks to historical occupation, and there are several small, picturesque villages. It’s also worth visiting for the flora and fauna – not least the rare snakes and vultures.
Pula and Istrian Coast
Take the ferry from Rovinj on the west side of the Istrian peninsula to the small, charming island of Katarina. Ferries run every half an hour and only take about ten minutes. There are lovely secluded beaches with warm, clear waters – perfect for taking a dip. You’ll find cafés and restaurants on the island, too.

The largest cave in the Karst region is part of a 22km network. It's been open to the public for the past 200 years. Take a tour to see its world-famous interiors and learn about the cave's indigenous wildlife and history at the exhibition. There's also a concert hall inside the cave that holds up to 10,000 people.
