Blessed with turquoise blue seas and fantastic beaches, La Oliva has a number of unique landmarks that make it stand out. The village centre is home to La Oliva’s main church, which houses a stunning baroque altar painting, while there’s a quaint little windmill to wander around.
Just a stone’s throw away from the church, you’ll find the Casa Mane Art Centre. As well as being a permanent home to many exhibits, there’s also a basement filled with contemporary art. Step out into the sunshine and you can enjoy a drink whilst you take a stroll around the sculpture courtyard.
As well as housing some of the most eye-catching landmarks on the island, La Oliva boasts a wealth of excellent eateries and divine dining options. You’re in for some of the best seafood you’re likely to taste anywhere around the Canaries, plus traditional local dishes and international classics.
Fuerteventura
Visit Casa de los Coroneles, a beautifully restored, traditional 18th-century stately home in La Oliva province that is now home to an art gallery. The gallery holds a mix of modern art and classic portraits, and the 360° views of the island's volcanic mountains from the top of the terrace are works of art in themselves.
Fuerteventura
Visit the imposing Castillo de El Toston for a taste of local history and culture. Once an important coastal defence, the fort now hosts contemporary exhibitions although the view from the battlements over the beaches of El Cotillo to the mountains looming behind, is worth the entrance fee alone.
Fuerteventura
Look out for dolphins and flying fish as you take the Freebird Catamaran to the unspoilt island of Los Lobos. Beer and sangria will flow and you'll be served a delicious lunch on board before the boat stops for a spot of snorkelling . Enjoy sunbathing on the white sands and exploring once you reach the island.
